Tutor Doctor Case Study: Seamless Migration to WordPress

TutorDoctor.com and TutorDoctor.co.uk (collectively, 278 locations) were built on a proprietary platform that did not afford the client the opportunity to make their own content changes. The client felt their website vendor was not responsive to their needs, with changes taking too long to complete. Moreover, their website vendor controlled all their digital marketing efforts, including hosting, SEO, paid ads, and additional services, in an “all or nothing” package, making a “breakup” a very difficult undertaking. It was decided that a move to WordPress, an open-source content management system, would offer more flexibility and autonomy over marketing content.

The Solution

The solution we presented was rebuilding their website on a WordPress Multisite platform. This allows the client to make content changes easily but also allows their franchisees access to their local websites so they can manage their own content.

We proposed a custom solution that was the right fit for the client’s needs at the time. While we typically perform content planning, writing, UX/UI design, and optimization, due to the time constraints the client just needed the websites moved over before the contract ended.

Everything we developed was custom-made for the client’s needs, rather than trying to fit the client’s needs in a pre-made product. From what content can be editable to franchise-specific settings pages, we listened and delivered creative solutions.

Timeline

We started work on September 1st, 2023. The US/Canada website launched on November 29th, and the UK website was launched on December 6, on time for their international Convention to be held in Toronto in mid-December.

What the Client Says

“The Bright Pink team have been nothing short of fantastic in rebuilding and migrating, not only one, but two of our websites in a very short space of time, hitting our target launch dates. They went above and beyond for these rebuilds, and the launches were very smooth. It’s still early days, but our franchisees are extremely happy with the end results so far. Thank you Jonie, Madalina & the rest of the Bright Pink team!”
